If it takes a patient with several illnesses about 30-40 minutes to complete a history for the first time, won't that tie up my schedule? PDF Print E-mail

A patient completing the PGMH can be interrupted, returns to it later, and pick up right where he or she left off. Thus you can see the patient when you are ready and not have to wait for the patient to complete the entire history.

Generally a patient can complete a history for a return visit in about 5 minutes, because he or she is merely updating changes. In addition, there are several things you can do to prevent this potential problem.

1. Implement using the system gradually. Plan to use it initially on a limited number of patients. This will allow your office staff to get accustomed to integrating the PGMH into your workflow.

2. Start using ENCOUNTERSUITE only on patients scheduled for complete examinations and not quick checks. This will maximize your efficiency and your billing.

3. For your first patients, select those familiar with using a computer and the Internet. This makes the first few histories run easier.

4. Be sure you have enough computers to accommodate the number of patients you anticipate using the history at the same time.
